Ceramic Pierced Leaf Plaquette Jewelry Pendant

A framed ceramic plaquette
is accented with a found wood stick.
Initially, I used a copper chain
and some wired beads as the support
but after wearing it, found it not to be the right thing...

So now the Plaquette has a totally beaded necklace
showing it off; hand formed clay blob beads,
authentic African Trade Beads
and these great little faux trade beads
discovered and sent to me by Emily Cohen.

Mel, Mel the Monster Bell

Turning a clay bead on the top of Mel Mel's shadow box display
allows the viewer to see Mel Mel in full round as well as
ring his tongue clanger.

Mel Mel shares his display box with four Feline Kiln Gods
each retired after giving their 9-lives to the greater cause
of kiln firing...

As you can see, Mel Mel's a red head just like the quirky hero
in Tom Robbin's book, "Still Life with Woodpecker."

Mel Mel's planning to ring in 2018 at the Creature Feature Showing
happening at the Community Arts center in late January.

The Chalk Circle Coffer

One of the last demonstrations we did last year
in our Community Arts Center Class was the creation
of clay 'fabric' using Pilcher's Slip and clay chalks.

Sue Gibbons was the maker of the chalks and we both demonstrated
how to use them to achieve an almost air brushed quality
to the clay slab surface.  I then used my slab to show
the making of a three legged pot and a flanged lid.

The lid to this coffer rattles when lifted, so it is a great place
to store valuable treats because you can hear whoever
is raiding the cookie coffer!
